Citrus Christmas Ornaments

The sweet smell of citrus will fill your home when you hang these bright slices from your tree.  I love how organic and natural these ornaments look.  And they really look beautiful when light shines against them.  We hung our citrus ornaments on a little Christmas tree which is located right next to the kitchen so it’s very fitting for the room.  And I have always wanted a kitchen Christmas tree.  This ornament craft only takes a few supplies, you’ll probably have most on hand, and it’s really easy to make.  We didn’t have any grapefruit but I can imagine how pretty they would look with the red.
Supplies:
citrus fruit –oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit
cutting board
knife
baking sheet
parchment paper
paper clips

Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.  Cut the citrus fruits into 1/8-inch-thick rounds. Place them on a baking sheet lined parchment paper.

Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 2 hours.  The times will vary depending on how juicy the fruit is and how thick the slices. Check the fruit every 30 minutes and flip them over half way during the drying process.

Once they are dried and cooled, grab your paper clips and pry the middle loop away from the bottom toward the top.  Then poke a hole with the smaller end of the paper clip in the dried citrus slice.  That’s it!  They are ready to hang.
