Simple decorations for a Mother’s Day Garden Tea Party
Every little girl dreams of attending a real tea party where she gets to dress up in her fancy dress and act like an adult sipping tea and nibbling on crumpets. And mothers love rare sweet moments where she gets to spend one-on-one quality time with her daughter with no immediate worries. This Mother’s Day Garden Tea Party captured those memories!
I usually don’t post church parties or activities that I volunteer my time and talents, but this Mother’s Day Garden Tea Party that I helped host was just too cute not to post. The event was beautiful with perfect sunny, spring weather and blooming spring flowers. Everyone had a wonderful time!
Our tea party budget was limited, so I borrowed tea sets from friends, and bought simple flower bunches that I split. Then I added a peony stem to each bunch to make it look full and elegant while also keeping the cost down. Thankfully since it was Mother’s Day weekend there were so many fresh flowers available. We served the mothers a simple lunch of salad and sandwiches, along with lavender chocolate cupcakes, pink hibiscus tea, chocolate-covered strawberries and French macarons. All the edibles were made by amazing, talented Moms. The girls served their mothers, and showed off their best table manners.
The event was held in my friend’s amazing backyard! Her beautiful barn, white house and blooming spring flowers made for an elegant, magical backdrop setting. Before the luncheon began, the mothers and daughters were invited to make flower crowns. After, the girls were able to dance around the May Day pole while the mothers chatted. I did a full tutorial on how to make a May Day Dancing Pole a few years ago.
