Domino‘s May issue had an article on laundry tips from the owners of The Laundress. There’s a lot of good information of how to keep your clothes looking new–alot that I had no idea about. One tip was skip the bleach (which I use frequently on my whites) because over time it makes fabrics yellow and eats away the fiber. They say brighten whites by soaking them in hot water and white vinegar for at least a half hour.
Another tip they say is to “sort of” ignore the ‘dry clean only’ tag–it’s a way for manufacturers to protect themselves. The Laundress says that unless it’s a suit jacket or rayon, you can hand-wash anything–silk, cashmere, polyester. Wow–that’s going to save me a ton of money!
Anyway, the below image has more secret cleaning tips. I especially like #2 regarding your husband’s dress shirts–another good way to save money!
